What people say about us

Here are letters sent into our school from visitors showing the great reception they get and the great enthusiasm noticed from our pupils.

Newport School has helped me in places were I struggle. They understand when I'm feeling stressed and give me the extra support I need. I feel safe here.

Pupil

Newport School has been amazing in the support given to us not just to our children but us as a family after an incident at a previous school.

The difference in our children especially one of them who needs extra support has been incredible and it shows in their work behaviour and well being. Unfortunately there's a lack of support elsewhere due to cuts and i would dread to think where we would have been had it not been for Newport School.

I just wanted to say I had a lovely time whilst at your school on Friday. The school has a wonderful buzz about it and the children in each corner of school (it's like a maze!) were happy and purposeful.

I will take this opportunity to say it has been a pleasure, a real pleasure, to work with you and your staff.  As I always said, it is a delight to experience the refreshing attitude you and your staff have to meeting the needs of young people struggling in school.  The positive view you hold of these most vulnerable and challenging of young people is something I wish others could experience!

Wishing you all a well deserved summer break, and all the best for the future.
Many thanks,
Take care

Good Morning

Please can you pass on a huge Thank You to all the staff at Newport Primary School, for a fantastic first year with Joey.
Wow what a huge difference a year can make.  Getting Joey in the right school is such a huge relief for me and I can't tell you how much better it has made me feel knowing that I don?t have to worry about him everyday he is at school.
A special thank you to Mrs O'Connell for being very supportive and giving me lots of good advice and making any necessary adjustments for Joey.   Also for being at the end of the phone to discuss any issues.
All of the staff are wonderful from the kitchen staff to the caretaker ?Steve?, the amazing teachers and teaching assistants.  I cannot tell you how grateful I am to everyone single one of you for welcoming Joey and giving him all the support he needs at school, whilst teaching him new skills and helping him to become more independent.
He has come on a treat since last September, his behaviour around other children used to be a real worry for me when taking him out and now I can take him to soft play without the worry (as much) that he is going to hurt another child when he is over excited or has a sensory overload.  His speech has developed so much more and he is really loving learning, not to mention the lovely friendships he has formed with his peers.
Thanks to you all for helping Joey shine and giving me peace of mind everyday he is at school I can?t tell you how much this means to me.
Hope you all have a lovely summer and a well deserved break.  We are very  excited to see what the next academic year brings.
Kindest regards
Angie (Joeys Mum)

I visit a lot of schools around the county and I just wanted to let you know you have an amazing team in the kitchen and in lunchtime staff, all working brilliantly together as a team. There is a lovely rapport with the children and they are happy when they come up to be served with their lunch. There is a lovely family feel between all staff within the school and it's a lovely environment to work in.

Good Afternoon Ladies,
Just a short note to thank you for all the support you have given whilst homeschooling Molly.
You should be really proud of yourselves and the school, I am so thankful for all the support during this difficult time.
You're all super stars in my eyes and I am so happy I chose Newport school for Molly.
Kind Regards
Sally Hodgson
Hi Debby
Thank you for today, sorry I didn't see you before I left.  It was  really good for me today. I was a bit taken back when I first entered the classroom area as it was so colourful and vibrant with all the pictures and work on the walls and doors.  The atmosphere was so lively, positive and happy.
I had such a warm welcome from yourself and your staff, it was truly lovely. The children were very friendly and willing to show me how well they read, which appeared to be above average. All the students I sat with read so fluently and confidently and were actually enjoying what they read as well, not just reading the words but understanding and enjoying the content.

Hi there

I just wanted to send you a quick email to let you know what a brilliant contribution Mel made at the ASE conference last week.
She presented herself professionally and expertly spoke to the diverse audience about the opportunities it has provided her and the school with and where she is taking it in the future, including her PEP grant and plans to support other schools.
More than that, it was the opportunity to see her blossom around the rest of the conference, including the social aspect. She fitted right in, everyone loved her, as I knew they would, and she is part of the 'cult' as one of the other teachers put it!
All of this is not possible without the ongoing support of her school and the senior leadership team. We know that you value Science highly at Newport, however, I wanted to take the time to thank you personally and let you know what a great contribution she made to the PSQM team at the ASE conference in particular.
lots of love and warm wishes to you all xxxx
Kindest regards
Bryony Turford

We have now been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark at silver level !

Dear Mrs O'Connell, (and Mel),

I am a school improvement officer in East Riding LA, with responsibility for science, and have recently been training as a PSQM Hub leader. I have just been looking at your school's amazing portfolio and had a virtual discussion with the senior PSQM hub leader Bryony Tu,rford! Wow what a journey you have had Mel, as a subject Leader and what wonderful things you have done in your school. I love your last slide-"we are serious about science, we are serious scientists!!!! " I am such a PSQM fan and am passionate about spreading the word in our LA. Is it OK with you if I share some of your story with our LA Team? I am doing a short input on PSQM at a team meeting on 30th June and it would be great if I could share some of your story. I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards, Mandy
